Plotless yet full of “vibes”, Bonsai charts the course of a couple’s relationship. It’s an odd one but the prose is bizarre enough to be engaging even if you aren’t totally sure where you’re headed because it’s not really about the destination but the vibes, and the vibes are intriguing

I'm having such an odd experience reading this. On the one hand, I'm impressed by the topics that Radke is weaving together. On the other hand, some of her explorations are a bit shallow and unsatisfactory. Curious to see how it ends.

what an engrossing read

i love how Lahiri's writing style gently pulls you in. there's a soothing quality to her prose

Mengiste's prose is *chef's kiss* So far the writing has been mesmerizing and the story intriguing, but I'm waiting for a gear shift to kick the plot into a different speed. Never driven stick shift, so this metaphor could be debated.

I don't want to jinx it but this might be the best book i've ever read
