Currently reading the Inferno. Does anyone ever read the Divine Comedy for any book besides the Inferno? I didn't think so.

I'm calling it quits with this one. It's cute and all , just as intended. But it's not for me. I'm not the target audience for a romance between 2 horny 20 somethings.

I like it when the author writes about her struggles with chronic fatigue and how it effects her relationships with others. Its a good contrast to the flirty parts between Chloe and Red.

These two are so stinking cute with the flirty emails! However, I am grandma and my flirty days are long over so I hope we can get back to Red's back story and the author's comments on socioeconomic stuff in London and its impact on our characters. Us old folks need substantials, aka fiber.

Red and Chloe seem like such an unlikely pairing. But that's just my classism and racism showing, and oh yes, my real life experience. But so far I love him for her. He's a carer and Chloe needs one. I can't wait to see what else the author chose for these two!

Well this is cute. This book was published in 2019, right before the covid pandemic.

One of these days I'm going to finish this book.

So much has happened. The pacing. The Blackwoods. All of it. What a novel. Astonishing.

My third time reading this.

Dodie's transformation is uplifting. Finally something with light in this box full of darkness. If this continues I'll have to give this book 3 full stars.

The end is near and I couldn't be happier. I will be happier when this one ends. She drags the reader along for at least 20 pages.

The Whittens. They owned all the land and when they died, they left the cursed land behind to corrupt new families. Damned ghosts.

Now I just want the book to end. It reads like it's being dragged out longer for who knows why.

The town of Fell is a character as well and hopefully we'll get to the dirt on this town, now that we're at the library of the classics college. Clearly Fell has a frightening back story.

I don't like Vail, either (could his name be more pretentious?) but I think he's about to man up and do something.

I wonder why the author chose such unlikeable characters?

Oh snap! I think the author set this story in 1989 because it was long before DNA was available to trace people's ancestry. That would make it too easy to find out who Ben was related to.

The intriguing part of this story is Ben: where'd he come from and where did he go? I'm halfway through the story, and we're still asking those 2 basic questions when getting to the answers could be more interesting to me than delaying the reveal. Let's get on with it, for crying out loud.

Why do ghosts always make it a guessing game? They'll know the answer, but they won't tell you. They'll say stuff like, you already know. It's all connected." What's connected? Riddle me this and that 🤦🏾‍♀️

Violet sees dead people. Established much earlier. I'm getting impatient to know wtf in this novel. St. James writing has changed since she wrote Broken Girls. It's gotten less literary and more mainstream. Idk if I like that.

The story is getting interesting now. Before now it felt like world building but now we have inexplicable reveals... I wanted to read more last night but I couldn't keep my eyes open. Grandma needs her sleep.

Omg. Easter egg hunt. The Sun Down Motel is mentioned on page 66!
