This book definitely needs trigger warnings that it does not appear to have.

A.S. Etaski has very clearly read a lot of R.A. Salvatore. I don't hate it, but I'm not sure I like it yet either.

320 pages, and the romantic leads have still BARELY even spoken to one another. There is no way the enemies-to-lovers is going to feel even remotely natural at this point. I'm finishing by grit alone.

Not only are the enemies not lovers yet, but they've barely even interacted. If they've briefly spoken even 10 times so far, I'd be surprised. I'm not loving it.

I gotta admit that I am not loving this so far. There is plenty of time for it to get better, but right now I'm not thrilled.

I gotta be honest. The writing here is fine. But I'm really not loving the story so far.

I've heard the 1st book of this series isn't great, but the rest of the series is better. Is it because it takes until book 2 for there to be any romance? I understood this to be a bully romance. But 1 of the requirements of that is romance. I'm 1/2 done, don't know who the partners might be. It's just unrelenting humiliation and juvenile threat with no hint of eventual payoff. I am not enjoying it.

Not loving this. So far it just feels like female victim porn. At this point, every time the FMC meets someone new, I'm just waiting to see which cliched way they will victimize her. (It's usually pretty obvious too.) I'll give it 50% to see if it manages to develop into something more. Otherwise, I'll be DNFing.

I've not read the Drizzt novels. So, I hope, as a spin-off, this stands alone.

This year, I promised myself I would put a dent in my physical books instead of always reaching for my Kindle. So far, so good.

I'm booooored.

Well, frankly, this isn't very good. I'll finish it because I don't like to DNF (and it's short), but.........

This year, I hereby swear I will actually succeed at reading down my physical TBR.
