Music, Language, and the Brain
The notion that a nation's instrumental music reflects the prosody of its language has long intrigued music scholars, especially those interested in "national character" in music. On no Western music has the influence of language been stronger" . In a more succinct expression of a similar sentiment, Glinka (in Theater Arts, June 1 95 8 ) wrote: "A nation creates music, the composer only arranges it"

Deep Learning: How the Mind Overrides Experience
...when faced with an internally consistent belief base {B} and information to the effect that true (P), where {B} and true (P) are dissonant, the mind tends to respond by creating a new belief B′ such that the conjunction of {B} and B′ is consistent with true (P).

Deep Learning: How the Mind Overrides Experience
If reality does not operate like a clockwork but instead is complex and unpredictable, empirical inductivism cannot be the whole story of learning. Adapting to a turbulent world is not like figuring out how a clock works. It is like playing Meta-Chess. Unlike ordinary chess, when a player moves a piece, he changes not only the location of that piece, but also the rules that control how the pieces move!

The Idea of History
Speaking about early christian historiography (It also works for Islamic I think) Collingwood wrote:It will set itself to detect an intelligible pattern in this general course of events, and in particular it will attach a central importance in this pattern to the historical life of Christ, which is clearly one of the chief preordained features of the pattern. It will make its narrative crystallize itself round..

Language Myths
M. #4: French is a Logical Language
In 1647 the father of all French purist grammarians - Claude Favre de Vaugelas - referred to 'clarity of language the which property French possesses over all other languages in the world,' and he was swiftly followed by people who asserted things like) 'we [the French] in everything we say follow exactly the order of rational thought) which is the order of Nature.)

Warped Passages: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Universe's Hidden Dimensions
This day and age we’re living in
Give cause for apprehension,
With speed and new invention.
And things like fourth dimension,
Yet we get a trifle weary
With Mr. Einstein’s theory…

On the ground that metaphysics is not a branch of philosophy ( as history of philosophy shows us ) . Ayer said :
It is not fair to regard Berkeley as ametaphysician. For he did not, in fact, deny the reality of material things, as we are still too commonly told. What he denied was the adequacy of Locke's analysis of the notion of a material thing.

I really don't blame people of the middle ages for believing in superstitions , or for
believing
in the first place . It really needs a superstition to build something like this .

The Essence of Aesthetic
