The problem ive been having with more recent books is the repetition. This book likes to repeatedly tell us about the dust motes that dance around in the light. And Viola just wondered what wouldve happened if she met Boudicca a month sooner. Twice. In three sentences.

My main gripe with this book so far has been how repetitive it is, but we had this same conversation about religion, like almost word for word in the beginning of the story???

I get ryan being weird about his height, but dudes almost 7ft tall. PEOPLE ARENT ALMOST 7FT TALL USUALLY. OF COURSE YOUR HIGHT WILL BE MENTIONED BY PEOPLE JUST MEETING YOU. If he was normal really tall then id get being that annoyed by comments. My husband is 6’4” and gets basketball comments. RYAN IS 6’7” THATS TALL AF

Ryan saying, to himself no prompting, that he would give up bacon for josie out of respect for the fact that shes jewish, is so weird to me considering that fact that shes jewish hasnt really been a thing story wise? Like its brought up randomly like a reminder that “btw! Our fmc is jewish!” But i dont think its ever come up as an important fact yet? Idk.

I think people forget that rom-com means ROMANTIC COMEDY. You can have angst but shit, theres nothing really funny happening here. the problem with insta love is you also want me to believe these people have baggage. all baggage in insta love feels pointless when the characters holding it are willing to chuck it out the window cause the person they met yesterday is so beautiful and perfect. and then everything gets ruined cause god forbid a man goes to therapy.

Oh no. Im worried that our love interest is a “nice guy”. In quotes cause of the “youll stay with shitty guys hoping they can live up to your fantasies and not know a nice guy if you saw one cause he ALSO doesnt live up to your fantasy.” Big yikes. Also you arent as nice as you think since youve basically been shitting on the MCs love of romantasy the whole book so far. Cant wait to see this turn around. 🙄

Im getting the feeling that this couldve ended a couple of chapters ago. I know its going to leave at a cliffhanger but the last hour and a half of this audio book has been a drag. I get that theres a want to set up for the second book but i think maybe cutting the book after Aelis almost dies wouldve made for a better cliffhanger. Maybe she’ll end up in another life/death situation. Got 30 more minutes to go!

Wondering why no one has seen/knows of Dalious. Is Aelis too high up on her high horse to consider that someone might LIE to her??

I think one of the issues with this series is that its such a linear story, no time jumps between books, that they *really* dont need to keep reminding us of the lore. Like every other chapter. Especially in book three. We made it this far, sure hope we read the first two books.
