This one's a slog.

Well that suddenly got creepy.

I wanted a quick October read, but adjusting my reader-brain to Bradbury's dense, poetic prose is like trying to swim in quicksand.

The last time I read this, I was probably 16. I expect that re-reading it at age 60 is going to be a completely different experience.

Best "trapped in an underground river" scene ever! Why don't people write books this fun anymore?

After the severed head comes an axe-wielding Zulu and a gun-toting teenage girl, taking out attacking Masai. I'm in awe.

Oh, a severed head! That's worth a full rating point.

Big Finish appears to have replaced its earlier obsession with lesbians with an obsession with the gender-confused. I've lost track of the number of BF releases this past year with They/Them characters.

Dear BF: For reference, a single individual is a "he" or a "she" and never a "they" or a "them." This is particularly important in audio when we have no visual reference to tell who's being spoken of. Is it a group of people or a gender-confused person with narcissistic personality disorder?

I used to read a lot of Vonnegut when I was younger, and I never really liked this one. Decided to read it again just to see if age improves it. And . . . maybe? Maybe just a bit?
