45% of the way through, and this book is still about nothing. Why do I keep trying these books? Who are the thousands of poor souls who think these are 4-stars-worthy? Is some of it clever? Sure. Can you carry an entire fucking novel on a few pithy witticisms? This book is proof that surely you cannot. It should be called "When will SOMETHING ACTUALLY HAPPEN?"

J. Moore is 20% done with The Fractured Dark (The Devoured Worlds, #2)

This might be a DNF. My gods the treacle is thick in this one. The "will-they-won't-they" from the first book is replaced with "gawd-can-they-just-stop-please." These characters vacillate from bold and badass to insecure and fragile in the span of the same sentence. And the plot so far is a meandering mess.

So much buildup, 20 pages of conclusion, none of it satisfying. Seems Stevenson wanted the journey to "just end" more than the reader. And everybody walks away except the Big Bad we just meet in chapter 83?? Gaaaawwwd.
