This just isn't for me, and it hurts because I want to love it! I'm a southern black woman who lives for lovestruck stalkers, but this ain't it. The writing style is reminiscent of older works in an accented voice from simpler times, but I have a hard time seeing it as that and not just amateur.

The racial politics surrounding the town of Florin is interesting, but it's more stressful than the romance.

Didn't know this story was about a corrupt, racist but totally not racist sheriff, but okay.

Well, things have taken a dramatically unsexy turn. I don't know how I'm going to be able to look forward to an enjoy future smut with this weighing on my mind.

The world building is great. The weapons, the brothers' unique abilities, the monarchy and tech is amazing and I wasn't expecting this total quality regarding the actual scifi elements. Usually it takes a backseat to romance, but not here. Only problem is that I'm getting bored lol
And Sephir smirks too much. We get it: you're edgy and troubled. Misty's already making dumb decisions, but imma give her a break for now

It starts off with Misty mentioning her fave purple sneakers and it takes me back to the good ol' days on quizlet or fanfic.net when young writers would describe the stuff they actually owned as the main character's. I'm being critical af but it's giving tween's first story.
