This is first person, which is my definite jam, and it's got a hardened, down-to-earth protag about to be flung into a fantasy adventure, which is also my jam. I am REALLY enjoying the writing style of this book. It's beautifully descriptive, and feels as intentional as it does effortless, making me think that the author either spent a great deal of time crafting this book or that she's just that talented (or maybe both). The writing style is good enough that I'd enjoy it even if the plot were lacking, but the plot is also super intriguing, and I'm delightfully engrossed!
