Finally finished this after a year emotional break

Damn this is good. I think this has become one of my favorite books

I don’t know how to feel so far. I had this optimism and strong empathy toward men as a child but now I’m just so deeply tired, to not have my own kindness and respect reciprocated. Why am I so worried to remain dutifully understanding to men who mostly do not care to change. Now I don’t see it as a personal responsibility but their own. My compassion isn’t owed

Quite a slog to get through the first half of the book, but the other half is fun.

I understand that the optimism in this book may be unrealistic and detract from the horrors of the first book, but God, I really needed it, especially now. To have a woman in the end outwit a system designed to devalue her, to bring hope through the reunification of mother and child, to end on a note that despite all, these girls are capable and loved… I’m sorry I just need it. I need to have that hope.
