I'm going to shelve this one for now. So far, it's not feeling like it's YA appropriate.

I am slowly making my way through this one. The amount of humor is unexpected and refreshing, given that it's actually funny.

No idea why I haven't finished this one yet despite being on it for a few weeks. It's entirely engrossing and I'm fascinated. Perhaps it's because the people in my house have open book detectors.

Pretty interesting so far. I haven't read any other alternate London books/series before (ADSOM, Neverwhere), so I can't make any judgements on derivations.

The opener totally gives off Mos Eisley vibes. Loving it already.

Right away there’s an announcement for sexual content in the book. It’s YA. I’ll keep listening for context, but I’m already not feeling it.

Carey's second novel is pretty strong with the technique, but the deus ex machina solution in this one disappoints me.

I knew when that bomb dropped at ~20% that we were in for a huge twist. Nothing’s that easy so soon in a book. I see what you did there, Brandes.
