Bryan Woerner is starting Dune: The Heir of Caladan (The Caladan Trilogy, #3)
Better than Lady of Caladan, but leaves some loose ends. Also disregards the idea that the emperor gave the Atriedes Arrakis in concert with the Harkonnens to get them out of the way

Not as good as Owl Be Home For Christmas by Donna Andrews, another cozy Christmas mystery with the same title and featuring owls.

A true cozy mystery, complete with owl puns, and dumb sentences like this

1. "HOO! Woo-hoo HOO!...HOO! Woo-hoo HOO!" rang out again. "No, no, no! That's completely wrong. It's HOO! Woo-hoo HOO!...HOO! Woo-hoo HOO!!"

The mystery in coming together - nitroglycerin spray (medication), off brand Viagra, mushroom allergy? What could have killed the victim?

Also there is a mention of brumation, for no real reason. I know what that is because I have a pet reptile. I'm also not the only one who has worked in retail/service industry that hates the Christmas store music playing on repeat to a point where you know what song comes up next

As a surprise owl themed cozy Christmas mystery to the other owl themed cozy Christmas mystery I am ready, this does not disappoint in the first three chapters. It has all the coziness and mystery of the genre so far. Plus sentences like this:

1. "HOO! Woo-hoo HOO!...HOO! Woo-hoo HOO!" rang out again. "No, no, no! That's completely wrong. It's HOO! Woo-hoo HOO!...HOO! Woo-hoo HOO!!"

And these:

4. I answered several attendees' questions about the weather, put in a request to the hotel staff for more coffee, and apologized for the third or fourth time, for the program book's unfortunate misspelling of Dr. Chawlibog Fijalkowski-Bartosiewicz's name.

5. Could you call it "resting bitch face" when a man was wearing it? The phenomenon needed a gender-neutral term.

I like the Hobbit. I read Fellowship but didn’t enjoy it. I attempted Two Towers and gave up. This book is so much worse. The Bible makes more sense and it has an Ellises amount of characters who are introduced and never heard from again and you need an org chart to keep track of their names. Also a separate one for place names as they are many. Also, what’s up with Mötley Crüe amount of umlauts? Only at Ch6!

This is a fun book. Well written and I finally got an X-Files joke that was hiding in plain sight.
