I’ve been listening to this on and off enough that it’s worth using towards the Reading Challenge that I am very behind on, lol, but I will note that I truly believe it’s the audiobook narrator who elevates what would otherwise be a slow and boring reading experience. She does a great job at capturing the nostalgia, the whimsy, the sadness, the longing. Excited to see this adapted in the show.

You read a classic and suddenly remember first person is indeed a worthwhile point-of-view only devalued and bastardized by the vapidity of the 21st century contemporary novel.
