I've settled on nearly everything I am going to read for the next year and half. That's how I roll when I am working.

It's too long. Laughing. It's YA. But I love that she used dual point of view. I do believe that is why this book (series) was such a hit with the YA crowd. The banter is what those YA readers loved. I see that. For me, it's an interesting conclusion. But who did all this better, Maggie Stiefvater's series The Wolves of Mercy Falls. This book lacks interiority. I hate that for YA readers. They need to think.

Oh, so far, I really love this.

That was a wild, messy ride, but I am eager to read book 2 and have pre-ordered it.

Well, there is a shocking lack of interiority, all action, hardly a sequel in the book. It doesn't get interesting until page 100, but after that, it's highly readable. Mainly because there is the bad boy Rorrick, and everything he does is interesting.

This is a learning project read that I share with other writers, so I am doing something new. I am line editing with comments to share, and it will be daily until I finish. chapter 1 is very good. I felt it lacked interiority which is difficult to do in present tense but not impossible. But I really loved the opening. What she faced in Chap 2 was more characters. Perhaps more telling than showing wld be better.

I am in a reading slump and tired. So I am only going to read the 3 books listed in July. I am not opening or looking at another book. I am buying no more books this year, too.

Apparently Romantasy is not a genre for me to buy and read. It's not working for me. Even some fantasy is not working for me. I am crushed and tired and have spend lots of money for books I coud not even finish. And that is so not me.

So I go to my PC doctor today and he says I am stressed. Both my sisters are ill and it's not good and I am working too hard. He says, you love to read. Read light. Read fun. Next fall you can jump back into studying. Write your book, get Netflix. So I am doing that. My reading list for next year has really changed. Laughing. Oh, well.

It's strange but true. Most of my favorite reads now are rereads of books written at least 10 years ago. Uprooted, Rook, The Night Circus, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. I am rereading them again this year.
