I'm SO into this

I've decided not to buy new books until I've worked through at least a part of my tbr pile so that I finally get around to reading all these books I was so excided for ... I'm starting with this.

I didn't hear great things about the author's first book but this sounds *so* cool and it's exactly what I like to read. So here I go.

Drew ist gerade einfach so im Jahr 1707 in die Bodleian Library spaziert, um Zeitreisen zu recherchieren. Ich glaube nicht. Aus so vielen Gründen glaube ich nicht.

Ich möchte nicht gemein sein, weil dieses Buch ja offiziell gar nicht mehr existiert, aber das Geschichtsbild, was hier transportiert wird, ist faszinierend. Es unterhält mich, sagen wir es mal so.

Every single plot point is clunkily derailed by "so, what about feminism?" and I'm getting sick of it.

Maybe I hyped myself up too much over the last couple years, since I wanted to read this since it came out, but it's not really working for me so far. Kind of too droll and honestly, weird choice to set a highwayman story this late in the 18th century, it keeps taking me out of the story.

Violets Kleid ist angeblich authentisch für 1705, aber ist in einem Stück vernäht und hat einen *Reißverschluss*. Ich kann das nicht.

I kind of don't like how lately all these historical releases repeat the same tired story beats about how much women suffered in the past. Even if it was "historically accurate", which it really often isn't, it's been done to death at this point.

This one should focus on the Icelandic sagas and the frozen mummy and all that good, interesting stuff instead.
