'"Don't be ridiculous," Irene said briskly. "We may collect fiction, but we are not required to imitate the stupider parts of it."'

This book is trying too hard. The humor doesn't always work with the characterizations. I wish there were rules about what characters know about the "alternates" and how they know it if it's a new setting to them. How and why does Kai know what a zeppelin is and how it works if they don't exist in his own reality?

The dialogue is sometimes confusing and doesn't always seem genuine or natural.

Stephanie is the most interesting character because she's the most complex. Also interesting that the reader is on team Hades/Able instead of team Zeus.
Don't understand Kai's reflection after "saving" Matt. He could still die later did she ever think of that?

Probably 2-3 stars. Interesting world which includes mythology. Execution is off. World told through dialogue. But there seems to be missing details. Not sure of the purpose of some scenes or how they add to the plot. The characters are flat and not believable, especially Mist. No one is that much of a bitch. Make her more interesting by showing that once in a while she isn't one.
