I think Whit is right about Isadora hiding something, but not about what he thinks.

Inez is going through a REALLY hard time and she's handling it like a real heroine. You go, girl!

I can imagine Whit so easily. I hope he can lose some of the cynicism and find a reason to hope again.

I'm relishing the descriptions of Cairo; the clothes, the food, the items, and the buildings.

It feels so obvious that Inez belongs in Egypt. It's sad and mysterious that her parents didn't ever bring her along.

Jack reminds me of the Fox character in this author's other book 'Hook Line and Sinker.' And I liked that one, so I'm interested to see Jack's journey. I love Katie McCoy's voice! So Irish.

The setting of St Helena and its vineyards is a pleasure to imagine. I can relate to Natalie's need to feel useful, wanted, and validated. My favorite side character is Menace the cat; cute! The male lead, August, is not smooth or clever but his earnest devotion to Natalie is winning me over.

I thought this might be a let down after the first one (sequels so often are, right?), but it's fun so far and not quite what I expected.

"So far, this trip is exactly what I expected and nothing like I planned."

At about the 20% mark, I felt myself get more comfortable with the pacing. It's definitely more of a slow-burn romance at this point. I feel things unfolding in a natural way, and it's going to take it's time. This book has more descriptive detail than the last book I read, and I like that. The details make it easier to imagine.

So far of the Miss Marple stories, I've read #1 (Vicarge) and #3 (Moving Finger). Both of those had a first-person narrator, which I enjoyed. It brought a personal story along with the main mystery. This one is different: no narrator, just a third-person mystery. So off the bat it's less enjoyable for that reason. I'm still interested though, and I like that there are several familiar characters from Vicarage.

This romance has more serious content than the other romances I've read lately, but I'm still enjoying it. The premise is unique and the characters are complex.

I was expecting this to be like Tara Brach's other book: Radical Acceptance. But it's formatted differently, being a collection of short anecdotes and lessons. I love the watercolor artwork found throughout.

"...we have to learn what it feels like to admit our mistakes and limitations and find out how wonderful it feels not to be rejected for being less than perfect. [...] And if we don't accept less-than-perfect people into our lives, we will be very lonely, because those are the only kind of people we will find."
