I had a hard time getting into this book. I took a break and came back and it's going a lot faster this time.

I'm finding it difficult to keep reading. The husbands of Livvy and Anna are not good men at all.

I don't like reading summaries or blurbs before reading a book. I like going in blind, not having a clue what the book is about. So I'm struggling to see what these two story lines have in common other than the abuse.

"Could I live my whole life like this? Confined to this medical complex forever-- never stepping foot in the outside world? Never experiencing something as simple and basic as going on one stupid date? "

Come on now. You're concerned about never stepping foot outside again. And going on a date is the first concern? I guess I'm made from a different cloth. I think of never seeing the sun never feeling the wind

I don't get it. Crotch is used correctly.
Otherwise, the story is going okay. I don't think it'll take me long to read this one.

I'm having issues with a word that is used repeatedly: crouch. It smells like old lady crouch. ... crotch. The word they mean is crotch. How did this make it past the editors?
I just did a search on my ebook. So far it's been used 5 times. The word is used 12 times in the book. Ugh.

"And then came the Warsaw Uprising. Here is a quick background on the Uprising for those who don't know much about it - ..."

Yeah, so I'm thinking this was an essay written by a middle schooler, maybe even a high schooler. There have also been many, many, instances of "big" words awkwardly thrown in and they don't always make sense.

"In the month of February in the year 1944,..."

I feel like the author is writing an essay and has a minimum word count he needs to meet.

"Iren lost a sack of bread she had been saving up. Because the sisters so dresses for the supervisor they had access to margarine."

The sentence before this one was about clothes being stolen.
I don't know if this was written by a middle schooler or if it was written in another language and poorly translated to English.

It makes more sense once I realized Shari is a person in their family. She was quickly mentioned on the page before.

This book is so hard to read and understand what the author is trying to say.
"Even as many other similarly placed families escaped, the Grossman's could not owing to the physical inability of Shari to join them."

This author's use of commas drives me crazy.

oh, come on! Things were looking better but there seems to be a few your/you're mix-ups still hanging around in this book.

Also, "when you are at the center of it, you can't see the wood for the trees."

The author screwed that saying up and it totally loses its meaning.

This isn't good. only on page 2 and I'm noticing things that are wrong. Words capitalized that shouldn't be.
I don't consider someone saying "I've decided you're coming with me. It's you and me against the world. I can't survive without you," to be emotional blackmail.

So let me guess. We got a bit of background on him so we're supposed to be sympathetic I guess. Now she's been reassigned another mentor. So now they're free to hook up and live happily ever after.

Run. Girl, kick this asshole in the balls and run as far as you can!!

I'm growing really tired of the word "mentee" for some reason. It's a stupid sounding word that occurs too often in this book.

I'm a little confused as to what exactly Megan's choices are. Not clear at all what the two choices are. I mean seriously, would she really give up so much for one night with the twins? surely staying has benefits besides sex

I'm really liking this book! At 66%, it changes POV and so I'm really really looking forward to the last third of this book!

"The ride back is extraneously long..."

what does that even mean?! I don't think extraneously means what the author thinks it means because that makes no sense.

I can't finish this.

"You know he's just trying to bang you, right?"
"Why do you always have to be so crude? You're chilling my mood."

That's it. I'm done. This guy was an asshole to you. He fucking whipped out his dick on a first date as you're getting out of the car. And you ask your roomie why SHE'S so crude?! I can't...

Is she fucking serious?! James rescues her from being gang raped. walks her home and offers to come inside so she can thank him for walking her home. Does this really sound like the type of guy that isn't interested in ANY type of female?!

Jesus Christ this book is full of sexual harassment. seriously. So far, every character we've met had sexually harassed Haley and in still only 2% into the fucking book!

Oh no. this isn't off to a good start. Haley's name has been mentioned twice already. The first time, James asked her himself. And he just fucking asked her name and started to introduce himself. like he didn't just ask 5 minutes ago.

Forced dehydration. It's inhumane! seriously?! She's been there minutes. Not hours. Not days. Minutes. I don't think that quite counts as inhumane forced dehydration.

"Why did he raise me to think we were good people?"

um. what kind of idiocy is this?! All of a sudden, because your ancestors, 600 years ago, did something bad, you now think YOU are not a good person?! wtf
