I like how this author writes (and reads) but the story is not compelling. There’s an underlying thread about the MC’s relationship with mother and with food. This is an interesting issue. But I’m only marginally connected to the story. I feel like this book might be better off read than listened to. Which is an interesting take for me.

The only thing going for this book is that it’s short. We’ll be done with this asap. Hopefully the smut makes it worth it. Otherwise, the writing is criminal.

I’ve been meaning to give Emily Hayes a shot because her cover images are hot and I’m looking for good erotic romance authors. This book is shit. The writing is shit. The characters are bleh. I’m still going to try to finish it but I’m disappointed. I guess I’ll be passing on this author.

I don’t find this book compelling. Which is shocking. Quinn Riley just sounds overly breathless. I think Abby Craden would have handled this better. Also, the romance timeline seems rushed and I’m not invested in the romance. The sexual tension feels somewhat contrived even if the smut is great. Sigh.

The read by Poison Ivy of Astrid is accurate af. This is heading to a 4 star. Might even cross over into 5.

A good trick I’ve learned when reading about insufferable characters, is to take a one or two day break from the book so the annoyingness hits fresh as supposed to compounding. Also, Astrid grow the fuck up. From one limerent relationship to the next. The level of codependency is EPIC. Girl, STAND UP!!

I’m 95% in and I’m still sufficiently icked to be considering a DNF. The only good to come out of this shit show is that it’ll be my 100th book of the year and add to my sparse October 2025 read list. Shit book. Worst of the year bar none.

This is an aggressive 1 star that I will hate finish because I genuinely cannot believe this book was commissioned for commercial release. All the reviews acting like this book is a subversive and deep work of lesbian fiction are eminently unserious. This is a BORE and a JOKE. A meaningless ride through white girl frivolity and low self esteem trash land. A WASTE of time & energy. Plants died for this. I mourn them.

I’m beginning to think this book only makes sense for people who live within this world and that’s a particular type of lesbian caught up in the hyper educated and artsy and gender queer and influencer based life with a NY spin. I can’t imagine queers or lesbians outside of this world are able to relate to this shit.

I feel like I’ve spent the last however many hours stuck with annoying Karen’s scratching each other for attention. Who is this book for?

How am I nearly done with this and have no idea what this book has been about?!? Am I in an acid trip?? What is wrong with NY lesbians?? Where are the normies?!? Is it because they’re white?? I’m so exhausted by this book and I have to slave through till the end. Why can’t this be like perfume and pain?? Sigh.
