Zainab is on page 114 of 232 of The Art of Sanctions: A View from the Field (Center on Global Energy Policy Series)
"Sanctions themselves also helped to push the Iranian economy in more positive directions."

Very nice and selfless and superior of the US. Richard yar, kuch bhe?

So in short, the book is all about how sanctions are 'nicer' and slower wars, but wars they are. Well... Sure.

Not that anyone cares. But I sort of feel like a nerd on the issue.

Was skeptical of Michael's work. Thought it's just going to be another 'nice' approach to comparing different (and often conflicting) histories of trauma and memories. Turns out it's not. I just happen to be a skeptical person.

Has all the potential of ruining my paper, but half the fun of active thinking is in expecting that you might not reach any conclusion. We'll see.

Glad I didn't invest that one hour of my morning making breakfast.

Ground rules for now:

1. Avoid speculating about Mr. Market. It's moody and you can't control it. That crash will happen, but why so scared if you already know it? Move on. Part of the game.

2. Keep investing your gains from investments.

3. Be patient. You'll be fine (financially).

4. Stop reading and start investing. TY

One of those books you have to finish by the end of the semester.

Very academic and basic. Sometimes, too basic perhaps. Yet necessary and quite comprehensive.

Loved the reflective questions at the end of each chapter.

Long time, no see.

Only if scientists kept nurturing their inner innocent philosophers, and the philosophers their inner naughty scientists.

Loving it all over again.

I'm actually liking his rant on liberalized science magazines trying to rationalize Biden's candidacy because Biden's more scientific than Trump. lol

Other than that... eh. So, Ben doesn't disappoint. It's actually easier reading him than listening to him bash woke SJWs. I suppose I'll never get the conservatives' obsession with 'cultural institutions.'

Cultural institutions. Sounds woke to me.

I picked this up for this week, smiling at the back page blurb. Gave me Discovery channel vibes. It's a controversial read, and Brian is big enough to admit that. It sounds interesting, you know. And 'scientific' too. But dude, what on earth?

Brian, come on, man. Not sure if you should be so sure about it. But sure. Go on. We'll see.

Zainab is starting The Wealth of Nations, Books 1-3
From what I have come to understand by reading chapters on the division of labor is that the popular stress on 'invisible hand' theory is quite exaggerated. He does provide a very visible explanation of how people 'make' the economy work.

Also, Adam does one great thing for his readers: he explains his theses in the chapter headings. Thanks, Adam.

Zainab is on page 146 of 272 of The Tyranny of Merit: What's Become of the Common Good?
Hmm. So what Michael's trying to say is that a good society should ideally aspire for equality of condition, not just equality of opportunity.

Right. It's just that somehow, we've stopped dreaming about a good society. Maybe a good society is too boring for us. Or maybe we're just too busy to dream in modern society.

Hassan, you know what? No real leadership needs reminders. It's a matter of lazy choices. Still, I'll give you that for summing it up in a single sentence.
