How are you finding this book? Is it drawing any parallels to what's happening lately?

Not there yet. But covers a good chunk of geopolitics, cultural dynamics, and intra-Afghan (Pashtun, non-Pashtun) and intertribal clashes so far. The 'revival' part is more about the 2002-2013 era in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Will write a detailed review when I'm done, Inshallah.
