Prelims getting scary

It’s getting to be a bit of a let down :-(

I’m enjoying it still, but the characters’ inner thoughts and dialogues are so… overwritten? I can’t describe it well, but it feels like Penner is trying so hard to be “literary” yet “edgy” and it falls flat for me.

Local bookstore was selling this even tho it’s not out officially yet. Plus I just couldn’t resist this premise. Lots of setting up of various plot lines so tbh it’s confusing, but the worldbuilding is interesting. I’m sat

Very readable, bit repetitive so far, but that may be because johnson is so thorough

Normally i dont like short story collections bc some stories inevitably suck, but so far all of them have been decent

I’m ctfu, i really thought the show was based off this book (the back of my copy only has the tagline “Is it the end of the world or just another day at the office?”). I’ll give it a chance still but i’m laughing at myself for the (perfectly reasonable) mistake

Ya Allah i pray that actually good georgian literature will be translated into english someday because this is not it

Extremely well researched and dense, so it’s my fault for trying to read this book for fun. I made significant progress today but i think everything went in one ear and out the other 😖
