I’ve been waiting for this book to become like OBAA but I need to accept that it’s simply not happening at this point

Just finished “ahegao” and WOW. Each short story is better and more fucked up than the last, and I hate to admit that I’m very entertained

I either missed important information long ago in this book or its told in a nonlinear and/or vignette style that is hard to follow. Tbh I have no clue what’s going on but I’m here for the vibe I suppose

Talaga is a brilliant writer and this work is so important to read. My heart shatters reading this so far

I don’t want to sound like such a hater but I expected this book to be wayyy less personal memoir? Like I understand it’s not bookish like an academic nonfiction book is, but I do wish the book was more informationally dense. A bit disappointed so far tbh

Finally got into this enough to be able to probably finish it

Tbh the book gets a bit repetitive and I’m waiting for a bigger picture measure, but maybe I’m expecting too much from this book. I’m still entertained

I truly love a good memoir. I read 100+ pages of this in one sitting today and if I didn’t have plans for this evening, I’d finish the book.

I am partly skimming this book because I don’t need all the details for when I meet Dominic Lieven, but it also reads surprisingly easy for a dense, military history book

Might just sit and read the last 100 pages of this book in one sitting tomorrow

Breezing through this

Dry but informative. Not an enjoyable read, but still good.
