Very readable, bit repetitive so far, but that may be because johnson is so thorough

Normally i dont like short story collections bc some stories inevitably suck, but so far all of them have been decent

I’m ctfu, i really thought the show was based off this book (the back of my copy only has the tagline “Is it the end of the world or just another day at the office?”). I’ll give it a chance still but i’m laughing at myself for the (perfectly reasonable) mistake

Extremely well researched and dense, so it’s my fault for trying to read this book for fun. I made significant progress today but i think everything went in one ear and out the other 😖

I’ve liked some of her other work, but this just feels like academic jargony slop.

Tlostanova seems to be operating under the idea that state socialism = colonialism, which is something i’ve had growing skepticism toward as I learn more about the soviet period (it’s complicated). So… not sure if I’m gonna enjoy this one, esp since I dont think decolonial theory is that relevant to the region 🤫

Honestly this book is pretty predictable but it reads easy and I don’t dislike it, so I might as well finish it

Very good but very heavy, so progress is slow.
