I am skimming. The plot is only just now starting to appear. Someone died and had no impact because I barely know anything about this character other than their name. Not sure what was the point of this character to begin with.
The story keeps switching between a few different groups and honestly....I STILL don't care much for anyone.

I've already passed a hundred pages and I simply don't care about anyone so far. That's because there are way too many characters and locations right off the bat and so after 100 pages I still don't actually know anyone. So far there's nothing to make me want to keep reading, as soon as I close the book I completely forget these characters names and everything else.

I expected to enjoy this book more...it's interesting and original but I don't know...it's not much fun. So far it's very bleak and depressing and there's no humour.

Seriously? PIVOT A FREE EYE? Isn't there something I don't know about how eyes work?

Exhibit 1:

"Yet there was something in his eyes, strikingly blue - the color of the waters of the southern countries [what?] - and the way they contrasted with his raven-black hair made her pause. He was achingly handsome, and couldn't have been older than twenty.

Princes are not supposed to be handsome! They're sniveling, stupid, repulsive creatures!This one.. this...How unfair of him to be royal and beautiful."

Oh wow. This is gonna be *fun* isn't it? I started groaning from page 1.

Let me share some of the wonderful nuggets from just the first 20 pages.

So the *greatest assasin* of the land who has been "a slave" for a year is brought before the prince of the land (whose family, you know, keeps her slaving in a mine) and she is immediately embarrassed because SHE IS DIRTY, OMG, and he is SO HANDSOME.

THIS BOOK IS ANNOYING ME.

Not sure if it's the audio book's fault....but probably not.

This book is so depressing. But none of the audio books I wanted were available at the moment, so here we are. :/

I'm halfway through and although the world building is interesting, I am seriously struggling to CARE.

There's like 10 main characters and none of them are interesting enough.
