Why is Goodreads adding books to my Currently Reading list randomly? Some have either been on my to-read list for several months or never heard of them!

"And just please! Anyone who chooses that name and who looks all geeky cute like that is totally, completely playing for Damien's team."
First off, your generalization on what people have to look like in order to be considered gay is absurd. Second, you pretty much admitted that Jack Twist is nothing more than Damien's Designated Love Interest.
I fucking hate you.

Never forget, Hitler was a frustrated artist.

Marie, I understand your point about how denying your gifts makes you the worst version of yourself, but WHY would you want to put his name on your book like it's nothing? How in the world is comparing your struggling reader to Hitler motivating or inspiring? I'm speechless.

Marie, your White liberalism is showing!

Humans need meaningful projects to work on. We need strong, loving relationships. We need a reason to get up in the morning. We need to connect and contribute. Otherwise, we get destructive.

Well said.

If I had a dollar for every single time a life coach tells you not to compare yourself to others while simultaneously making you feel guilty by giving you examples of inspiring people that beat the odds ("they are accomplished, what is YOUR excuse?"), I wouldn't need a full-time job.

And another one!

Marie Forleo: "Can't" is a euphemism for "won't." What does "won't" mean? "Won't" means we're not willing. In other words . . . You don't really want to.
Rachel Hollis: When you really want something, you will find a way. When you don't really want something, you'll find an excuse.

I just realized they BOTH admire Tony Robbins, could it be possible that they got this from him?

This book is just boring, but I'm willing to finish this now. Funnily enough, I'm getting invested in Girl, Wash Your Face in the meantime, so I noticed something curious.

This book: You are responsible for what you believe, how you feel, and how you behave.
Rachel Hollis: You, and only you, are ultimately responsible for who you become and how happy you are.

Stay tuned for the next one.

Most books are designed to help you acquire new information. Some are made with the hope you'll feel inspired. My intention goes far beyond that. I'm committed to helping you get results.

You just had to do it again.

As a white woman in the US, I'm well aware that I've won what Warren Buffett calls the Ovarian Lottery. While not every [diverse, compelling] anecdote, tool, or exercise will be a match for your situation, please don't use the "easy for you to say; you're so [lucky, privileged, etc.]" argument to let yourself off the hook

That's exactly what a privileged person would say, kudos for the honesty.

LISTEN, I'm opening this book because I genuinely like Forleo despite my harsh review of her other book, but one thing I seem to notice is how White Feminist™ she is with her quoting that same Maya Angelou quote ("When you know better, do better") in her last book and this one. It just seems very condescending coming from her and I'm under the impression that's the only quote she knows from Angelou.

I went through all the books I have read that were tagged as "To Be Reviewed" and finally settled on the ones that will definitely have reviews. It is likely that the majority will need rereads since it's been almost a decade since they were last read. In the meantime, I'll work on the books that I have read for the past year or so to keep things moving.

Also, greedy people EXIST. Money is not evil, but it does make some people hoarders and fanatics. This idea that people are AFRAID of money is so laughable. Most of the time people are scared of what greed can do to the person, not money itself. I'll elaborate more on the review, this is not the space for this, hahaha

For the last fucking time, systemic inequality EXISTS and that impedes others from getting the best opportunities available because of these issues. I call this being blissfully ignorant because acknowledging this does not sell the promise of becoming rich. Wealth consciousness is good and dandy, but being a realist shouldn't be thrown out the window. (2/2)

I'm almost done and even though there were some things that bothered me about this book, this one was the icing on the cake. What's with all these money gurus, whose main goal is to make you successful and wealthy, being so insensitive towards poor people? I understand that at least 80% of them grew up with some privilege one way or another, but this is becoming tiring. (1/2)

Yep, I fucking knew it, Marie Forleo got her philosophy about child abuse from this book. AND YET, I feel that Jack Canfield is more sympathetic towards turbulent pasts (can't say the same for Rhonda Byrne to an extent) than Forleo ever was (a reminder: she gaslighted her readers into doubting the validity of their abuse), so that says more about her out-of-touch mentality than this book does about this topic.

Since this is the money chapter, let me just say this. Yes, people earn money because they work hard towards their goals and never give up. However, denying that some people have generational wealth and DO take advantage of others is laughable.

I don't deny the Law of Attraction so I'm happy that the Jack Canfield and John Assaraf showcase it perfectly instead of just babble. ACTION is key to this thinking.

It still blows my mind that this isn't the first time someone has told this black feather story as entrepreneurship motivation (my former boss included). Now I know where they got it from.

If you see people who are overweight, do not observe them, but immediately switch your mind to the picture of you in your perfect body and feel it.

So dehumanize others to further your goals, understood.

Whether people have been told they had a slow thyroid, a slow metabolism, or their body size is hereditary, these are all disguises for thinking "fat thoughts." If you accept any of those conditions as applicable to you, and you believe it, it must become your experience, and you will continue to attract being overweight.

This book just said, "Fuck doctors, they know nothing."

An epidemic worse than any plague that humankind has ever seen has been raging for centuries. It is the "don't want" epidemic.

Plagues actually kill people.
