If I had a dollar for every single time a life coach tells you not to compare yourself to others while simultaneously making you feel guilty by giving you examples of inspiring people that beat the odds ("they are accomplished, what is YOUR excuse?"), I wouldn't need a full-time job.

Never forget, Hitler was a frustrated artist.

Marie, I understand your point about how denying your gifts makes you the worst version of yourself, but WHY would you want to put his name on your book like it's nothing? How in the world is comparing your struggling reader to Hitler motivating or inspiring? I'm speechless.

Marie, your White liberalism is showing!

Humans need meaningful projects to work on. We need strong, loving relationships. We need a reason to get up in the morning. We need to connect and contribute. Otherwise, we get destructive.

Well said.

And another one!

Marie Forleo: "Can't" is a euphemism for "won't." What does "won't" mean? "Won't" means we're not willing. In other words . . . You don't really want to.
Rachel Hollis: When you really want something, you will find a way. When you don't really want something, you'll find an excuse.

I just realized they BOTH admire Tony Robbins, could it be possible that they got this from him?

This book is just boring, but I'm willing to finish this now. Funnily enough, I'm getting invested in Girl, Wash Your Face in the meantime, so I noticed something curious.

This book: You are responsible for what you believe, how you feel, and how you behave.
Rachel Hollis: You, and only you, are ultimately responsible for who you become and how happy you are.

Stay tuned for the next one.

Most books are designed to help you acquire new information. Some are made with the hope you'll feel inspired. My intention goes far beyond that. I'm committed to helping you get results.

You just had to do it again.

As a white woman in the US, I'm well aware that I've won what Warren Buffett calls the Ovarian Lottery. While not every [diverse, compelling] anecdote, tool, or exercise will be a match for your situation, please don't use the "easy for you to say; you're so [lucky, privileged, etc.]" argument to let yourself off the hook

That's exactly what a privileged person would say, kudos for the honesty.

LISTEN, I'm opening this book because I genuinely like Forleo despite my harsh review of her other book, but one thing I seem to notice is how White Feminist™ she is with her quoting that same Maya Angelou quote ("When you know better, do better") in her last book and this one. It just seems very condescending coming from her and I'm under the impression that's the only quote she knows from Angelou.
