I can’t help but thinking while reading this, and enjoying it, that it would’ve been even better, and even more enjoyable to have had this all in one book. I am struggling to remember the side characters, who add a lot to the story, because it’s been awhile since I read the first book.

everything I like about this book is paired with things that make me cringe. I loved the way Theo describes to process of creating the Port wine to Tony, but sprinkled into the beautiful description of the process of making port wine: "Vintage is God's work" I am really not into the religious undertones (that are barely passing as undertones at this point) - MIGHT DNF.

at 60 pages in, I was tearing up - ok crying. At 100 pages in, I'm starting to question the author's motives. It's starting to loose me, but I'll keep on, I might be judging too harshly/quickly based off one review I saw briefly.

Doing a re-read because it's my son's summer reading book - and I will *hopefully* be continuing the series right away after the re-read of this one.
