I don't fully understand why the FMC wants to make her land independent from the immortals. They seem to provide aid when needed and leave them be for the most part otherwise, unless I am missing something (possible), they don't seem to be oppressed by them and definitely benefit from their aid because of their magic/powers against magical/powerful beings.
