It really hurts to listen to the chapter "Life Inside The Liberal" as the author talks about how its more tribal, racial, & power-by-war era was the belief that yeah, Americans are human too, but we (the other world powers) can generally trust that they (& the president they elect) aren't likely to get *too* adventurous & flip the boat on us all if they get to act as Captain. Oof 😣
