this had a sloooow start but now when I have places to be I finally want to keep reading....

after having this checked out from the library without starting it for so long that it became overdue and i had to check it out again, i'm actually quite liking it!!! if only i hadn't put it off so long!

3 books at once!!! it is true!!!

for the past 80 pages I have been certain that dr grene is roseanne's kid and the recent confirmations that she has a son she doesn't know and he has Irish heritage are adding up quite well ..... he was born like 10 years before she was institutionalized is the only issue but I'll update when I'm right .

started to get frustrated at the pop culture references that show this adaptation is halfway between a translation and a retelling and while it may be faithful in spirit to the original it clearly is doing its own thing to talk about britain too...found a pdf that seems to just be a regular translation and page ONE there is extra dialogue in this one i'm reading that was totally made up and not in the original. ?

book number 5 for fiction and film class. was googling a bit to figure out whether i should be tagging this as 'translated' or not and i've discovered that the edition our professor gave us is not just a translation but 1. has translated/changed names which is usually not done so i wonder what the reason for that is and 2. seems to be marginally updated because a character mentioned a selfie. interesting...?

for Irish lit...very excited because my professor said an excessive number of tragic things happen in this main character's life which put me in mind of the other excessively tragic irish historical fiction I adore (which I am rereading right now...)

liking these last couple chapters more now that things are twining together

getting really excited in this sibilla chapter. I LOVE MAGICAL REALISM!!!!!!!!!

forgot i was reading this book because i haven’t been on my computer lately….and to think of how excited i was for it!

good so far but nothing insane like the twists in fingersmith (disappointingly)

clearly ive grown accustomed to reading multiple books at once this semester....i should have spent all afternoon outside reading this but I didn't!!!

when i requested this on netgalley I thought "there's no way i'll ever get approved, i want to read it way too much" but HERE I AM WITH AN ARC!!!!!!

"He was alone and young and wilful and wild hearted, alone amid a waste of wild air and brackish waters and the seaharvest of shells and tangle and veiled grey sunlight..." love looved this sentence

finishing this this weekend!! unsure how I'm feeling except for some sentences which are absolutely gorgeous and some sections where I have no clue what is going on at all.

things are picking up after a slow reading weekend (for this book at least)
