5 year time jump was a crazy move to pull but I know why…the epigraphs for each part are definitely outlining the story…but just how sadly will this end?

I guess Jack is redeeming himself here but I’m getting mighty tired of people doubting Mabel and especially calling her crazy to her face. And I’m so sad that she’s starting not to believe herself!

I love a brief and comprehensible history of anything especially if it starts actually doing history this chapter went so hard!! Yes do tell me how industrialization and easier transportation changed the social landscape to outside the house therefore making the piano fairly obsolete in the social sphere I’m SALIVATING right now!!!

I’m glad Jack is at least partially over his “I am strong man I must provide for my wife so she may do housework all day” attitude because I was getting really quite sick of it

As a kid who also disliked her required piano recitals, I felt very seen by this chapter. Luckily I was allowed to have sheet music so I never forgot the opening notes.

Lucie made me understand Aiden’s character better in her breakthrough moment than literally being in his head for his POV chapters did…I’m glad she’s standing her ground about not settling because Aiden is wholly emotionally unattractive and unavailable right now.

Unsurprisingly the plot is suddenly making very little sense because the author is trying to set up smut. Lucie is on the radio show three times a week, probably MWF, yet she's not scheduled to be at the station the night the orchestra concert is airing, which would most likely be a Friday or Saturday. Perhaps it's a Thursday concert, but then why Maya is having a sleepover on a school night?

We as society need to sit down with romance authors and clarify that no one’s eyelashes are long enough to flutter across their cheeks much less touch them

I’m so endeared to Jack and Mabel but I think that might be because I’ve read the first 100 pages of this book at least three times now…

Oh dear, we’ve entered the “I am strong man I must protect woman” part of the male POV…I can’t believe straight people find this attractive like why is it hot to you that a man thinks you’re incapable of handling yourself as a fully grown adult?

I wish there was more time devoted to Dex’s feelings. I feel I don’t totally understand them as a person because while their reactions and feelings are very clear (it’s obvious they want to complete this quest independently), the reasons behind them are not. I guess Dex isn’t supposed to understand the reason either, but I wish that was made clear to us. Right now I feel like I’ve missed something.

I’m more concerned about paving the way for inventions that actually address a problem plaguing humanity, not AI. There are so many more issues we have to solve that would directly affect people in a positive way than keeping AI development in the US. Maybe I’m just an AI hater through and through though.

This chapter was particularly interesting to me as the daughter of a scientist, even if Klein and Thompson's AI dick-riding was revolting.

Sara’s obsession with princesses is understandable but I cannot help, as a born and raised American, cringing at her dislike of revolutionaries.

I think I may be mightily disappointed if this book doesn’t end with Arden getting a new agent

I really love how much Lippincott and Derrick commit to a slow burn. There’s never any rush to the romance for them and there’s also not a ton of rumination on feelings, yet I’m still absolutely hooked by the couple and fully believe their chemistry.
