I’m obsessed with the narrative style and experimentation, and although I know I’m exactly the kind of reader they’re talking about (is that a bad thing, though?), I am DESPERATELY invested and need to know what will happen

I absolutely adore this narrative style, I wish I could sink my teeth into it in an academic setting

I still don’t really understand the impact of the fates here. Is that on me for not reading enough Greek mythology? Why are they messing with Levi? It is bothersome, but also I somehow didn’t clock until now that the reason Hayden was looking for a loophole is he thought the act was temporary (despite the title saying immortal, which I thought made it obvious). So perhaps all these comprehension issues are on me.

Okay I need more info on Levi’s past at this point, surely it is coming soon?? They’re verging close to instalove and something robustly developmental needs to balance it out

Was going pretty normally but then they started saying some weird things during the sex scene…they worked better in every other scene so hopefully they do not have more sex because I was enjoying them.

Occasionally there is a modern slang moment (derogatory) and overall the style and tone are quite casual, but somehow it doesn’t bother me? It feels like it should be a lot closer to the point of being unbearable prose for me, but it’s not, likely because this isn’t tracking as a typical romance just yet. We shall see how it continues.

Canonically this book must take place before 2020 because there has been a lot of new Phineas and Ferb content since then, and that’s ignoring the fact that although there are “only” 4 seasons, there’s like 200 episodes. Then again, I could certainly tell you how every episode ends, so maybe the author isn’t too far off on this one.

Clara is pissing me off so much, like how are you better for the kids just because you’re a woman? How do you know what they need right now? Patrick has far more relevant experience in this department and so long as the kids don’t die, a summer of fun is probably not the worst thing in the world for them right now.

This book does a really good job balancing its philosophical questions with plot and humor and coziness. Gives you a lot of space as a reader to thoroughly consider the ideas being presented and not tire of it.

They keep talking about how the scandal would be career-ruining if they got caught and maybe I’m missing something but I just don’t see it? Did they sign a contract with the NHL saying they’d hate each other? I just don’t think it’s that hard to understand that two people don’t feel how the media presents them.

I liked when Shane thrice repeated that Ilya wanted to leave his hotel to come to his apartment to fuck him. It really helped my reading comprehension. Good to have some clarity after Ilya’s unequivocal “I will come to your apartment and fuck you” from three pages earlier.

The writing isn’t pushing much above 3 stars but I have a feeling that I’m going to be gut punched with discussions of grief and contemplate a 4 star rating. We shall see. Other than that, it’s an interesting examination of a vaguely toxic but primarily supportive gay culture.

My running theory since the accident is that Dan is a lying cheating aloof narcissist and while I don’t want to be proven right, I do like being right about these things.

Baffled at the concept of a small town that’s somehow 30 miles away from a Walmart and only regularly hires at the grocery store but also has an economy strong enough to support two floral/gift shops and two liquor stores. (Liquor is a given in WI but multiple bars is far more common than multiple liquor stores.)

5 year time jump was a crazy move to pull but I know why…the epigraphs for each part are definitely outlining the story…but just how sadly will this end?

I guess Jack is redeeming himself here but I’m getting mighty tired of people doubting Mabel and especially calling her crazy to her face. And I’m so sad that she’s starting not to believe herself!

I love a brief and comprehensible history of anything especially if it starts actually doing history this chapter went so hard!! Yes do tell me how industrialization and easier transportation changed the social landscape to outside the house therefore making the piano fairly obsolete in the social sphere I’m SALIVATING right now!!!

I’m glad Jack is at least partially over his “I am strong man I must provide for my wife so she may do housework all day” attitude because I was getting really quite sick of it

As a kid who also disliked her required piano recitals, I felt very seen by this chapter. Luckily I was allowed to have sheet music so I never forgot the opening notes.

Lucie made me understand Aiden’s character better in her breakthrough moment than literally being in his head for his POV chapters did…I’m glad she’s standing her ground about not settling because Aiden is wholly emotionally unattractive and unavailable right now.

Unsurprisingly the plot is suddenly making very little sense because the author is trying to set up smut. Lucie is on the radio show three times a week, probably MWF, yet she's not scheduled to be at the station the night the orchestra concert is airing, which would most likely be a Friday or Saturday. Perhaps it's a Thursday concert, but then why Maya is having a sleepover on a school night?

We as society need to sit down with romance authors and clarify that no one’s eyelashes are long enough to flutter across their cheeks much less touch them

I’m so endeared to Jack and Mabel but I think that might be because I’ve read the first 100 pages of this book at least three times now…

Oh dear, we’ve entered the “I am strong man I must protect woman” part of the male POV…I can’t believe straight people find this attractive like why is it hot to you that a man thinks you’re incapable of handling yourself as a fully grown adult?
