DNF - I could keep reading this, I wouldn't dislike it, but it has meh written all over it, too cliche, too heavy handed, too little character development early on.

DNF - hypothetically your partner has a heart attack at a gay spa and is rushed to ICU, how far down the list of things you think about is, but I voted yes to marriage equality? Her best friend is a gay man, we don't need to be told she's not a bigot, and certainly not in such a forced manor.

DNF - Irving revisits some of his characters in The Cider House Rules, and as the title suggests this novel centres on Esther. Unfortunately, I don't know if after 40 years Irving isn't quite as sharp as he once was, or if after so long my taste in literature has changed. But this is flat and I'm bored.

DNF - feels like short jerky motions on the page.

DNF - Nice writing, just not a me book.

DNF - starting to think I just don't like retellings. Really wasn't adding much to Melville's novel... But at least it wasn't including the whale encyclopaedia bits.

DNF - why didn't anybody edit this book? This book has less focus than me when I'm using an ADHD moment.

DNF - listening to the Audiobook at the gym. Go on the bike. Some idiot set it to miles instead of km, I don't know how to change it back. I was more interested in converting my splits to km, you know, doing maths, than listening to this book.

DNF - It's alright, but I can't remember why I wanted to read this (Its aa few years old) and it's not sucking me in.

DNF - I could finish this book, but I'm not connecting to the characters. I'm a bit scattered at the moment, so could be a me thing.

DNFed audiobook after 4 minutes - Dick Van Dyke's London accent is not the gold standard... Also, already telling and not showing.

Seriously, the the voice actor must have thought he was being pranked when they cast him.

DNF - Lovely writing, but every time I put this down I forget everything and feel like I need to start again. Forgettable.

DNF - No hook, I'm not interested yet.

DNF - Just struggling to get into this one.

DNF - telling not showing, tame commercial BS.

DNF - bored.

DNF - It's not you, it's me. I am so far from in the mood for this book, I'm reading it and hoping it will be shit so I can DNF it, then its not shit and I'm disappointed I have to keep reading. Let's reconsider if I'm going to read it in a month or twos time.

Would DNF, but have to read this for work. Are all thriller writers this bad?
