Great, practical insights so far. I’d say one of the central themes is having a great story to tell and bringing the decision maker along.

A lot of points really hitting home. Ego really be fucking us up on site. No warning. The key lesson for me so far is perhaps learning to identify those moments when my decision-making and feelings are being impacted by ego in an outsized way.

I definitely oddity with the need to manage yourself and, by extension others. Limiting the desire to micromanage is important in that regard.

A book meandering philosophical observations on the (non) essentials of life. Quite the read for one in a transitory state of things as myself. I say this referencing my professional climb as well as my social status (ha!) and origin story.

I usually stop reading books because I lose interest. I’m contemplating slowing down this book because of the pleasure of it all. I don’t want this to end. It’s so good finding writers who write with you in mind. Baldwin cared about people who look, think and feel like I do. Black, lower-middle class and poor people in systems not designed for us to thrive.
