So, to summarize, I hate this book because it is essentually about an unhinged woman that is obsessed with her ex-boyfriend and will do anything to get him back. Even throw away her own life without a second thought because who is she without her man anyways am I right?

Another option would have been for them to continue a long distance relationship while Harriet figures herself out more. This would have shown that Wyn was also willing to compromise for Harriet’s happiness. Anything would have been better than making a rash decision on quitting school and moving after a man.

It would have added actual interest to the second chance romance if both of them did actual work on themselves and were slightly different this time around. I wanted Harriet to have established herself more as an individual outside of her relationships.

I especially think she needed to realise how unhappy with her life she was after losing Wyn because it seems like Wyn was the only reason she used to be happy. After the break up she refused to find out how to enjoy life and feel fulfilled without Wyn which is not healthy at all.

I don’t even mind the pottery like a lot of the reviews seem to but rather the lack of compromise. It’s like Harriet can’t keep anything from her previous life - and no the pottery does not count. This book desperately needed Harriet to have done some work on herself after their break up.

At the very least he should have talked to her honestly at the start of the book since supposedly he had grown after going to therapy and getting depression medication. Even so the way he broke up with her was awful and honestly no amount of mental health excuses is enough to make up for it. In the end I just wanted Harriet to grow a back bone and stop groveling after this mediocre man.

This ending highlights how this whole book is just Harriet chasing after Wyn, who honestly seems like he does not care at all and would be happy just staying single. I don’t like how he uses his mental health as an excuse for his behaviour and how he still blames her for not communicating even when not doing that himself.

The only reason she moved to the ranch is Wyn and I just can’t get behind that as a happy ending especially because she is a people pleaser. Who’s to say she’s not just appeasing Wyn this time around. For her ending to be truly happy I feel it needed to focus on her and not Wyn.

I like the idea of this book - Harriet burns out on trying to be perfect all the time and finally decides to live the life she wants. However, it ended up coming across as her abandoning herself and her life. I hate that Harriet just lost herself on Wyn’s life. It was even framed as ”Wyn is enough for me” and not that she dreamed of living on the ranch doing pottery even if Wyn was not in the picture.

I hate Wyn. He is such a blah character and this book spent way too much time trying to convince me that Wyn is special somehow. But there’s just nothing there. It makes Harriet seem unhinged because she’s so obsessed with Wyn. I don’t really understand what they see in each other. Their banter feels forced and never gets any deeper from their first meeting. It feels like it’s trying too hard to be witty.

I have been happy just existing and not thinking of this book but I guess it’s time to put the nail in the coffin and bury this bich. This book is awful. I was prepared to think it’s mediocre but it was way worse than I expected. I’m just going to focus on the main romance because I’ve forgotten a lot of the details in this book.

Also it feels like nothing has happened. They’ve just been drinking for two days and Harriet and Wyn keep not being honest with each other. I would be fine without a plot if the characters had more depth to them and their conversations didn’t feel like small talk.

I have a vibe that this whole thing is a ploy to get Harriet and Wyn back together again. Like parent trap. The bed sharing and accidentally sending both of them to the basement has that vibe. Otherwise they don’t feel like friends because they don’t talk and they’re too oblivious to their friend’s suffering. More like they’re friendly. I honestly cannot believe all these people are supposed to be 30.

Something about Wyn just bothers me. I heavily dislike men that don’t even try to express their feelings and he gives off that vibe. Breaking up over the phone after 8 years and not having a proper conversation about it afterwards is so cruel. I don’t know if I can get past that.

This book is making me think that maaaybe second chance romance is not for me. Especially when it relies on being childish and unwilling to communicate. I want to root for the couple so bad but I am so annoyed with both of them. I kind of wished this was more in the line of falling in love again versus being in love but entirely unwilling to talk about it and resorting to arguing all the time.

I’m leaning towards two stars for now. I could forgive the plot holes and how off the rails the ending is if the characterisation was better for all of the characters. None of them are memorable and none of them feel like real people. I have zero interest to continue the series. And to be honest if this is the best book of the author then maybe she’s just not for me.

Everything is so shallow. There’s no depth to be found. I’m not sure if I even had fun reading this because it was almost like reading a plot summary. The book is also very predictable. You’re just waiting for the shoe to drop. I would be more forgiving if the plot went into a more interesting direction. Even the way Andrew was evil was boring.

Something about this just feels off. I think that the setup and premise are interesting but it just falls apart after that. The reveal of the mystery doesn’t work. I will say that this book is super addictive. I finished this book in one day but overall it leaves you unsatisfied. I just felt empty after finishing it and it made me realise how empty the characters and plot are.

I swear there is something wrong with Millie. She’s so unhinged about Andrew. I don’t see what she sees at all and it almost feels manic the way she speaks about him.

If Andrew is fluent in french could he also be fluent in italian? She was wondering why Nina has a gardner she can’t talk to. Maybe it’s Andrew and maybe Enzo is terrified of Andrew -not Nina.

I’m just very suspicious of Millie. She paints herself to be very innocent but at the same time is on a date with the husband or throwing a glass on the ground. She also was in prison for ten years and all her family has isolated her. I don’t trust her.

On the other hand I do wonder if Millie is an unreliable narrator that misleads the reader into thinking Nina is crazy. For that theory I just don’t understand why everyone around Nina already thinks she’s crazy. For that reason I’m leaning more towards Andrew since he’s been there longer and Nina has changed a lot during their marriage. Possibly by his influence.

Maybe Nina is trying to keep Andrew happy because of the prenup? Maybe he’s the one that wanted to hire Millie and Nina is trying to get her to quit/ stay away from Andrew for her own good.

I’m soo sus of Andrew. He feels so performative when he talks to Millie. Like he knows what string to pull to get her to symphatise with him.

My other theory is that Nina is trying to protect Millie from Andrew. Not that she’s jealous.

I don’t trust Andrew at all. He’s described to be way too perfect and nice. I have a theory that he’s making Nina seem crazy to everyone. There’s no way Nina is just crazy and that’s it. It kind of seems like he’s trying to get close to Millie by making his wife seem horrible and himself the victim.

All in all I love Sona and without her this book would definitely have a lower rating. There is potential for the next book if the world building picks up but after this I’m very skeptical and not sure I even want to read it.

This is just a theory but it might be the dual perspective that kills it. You don’t have to show them developing feelings as much when the reader can just see inside their heads. Just imagine if only Sona had a perspective and the writing had to show Eris slowly growing to trust her and like her through deeper interactions. It would have required more because Eris’s mistrust is so deep towards the pilots.

The romance just wasn’t there for me unfortunately. Sometimes they had chemistry but most of the time their vibes were weird. It almost feels insta-lovey just because it’s hard to say why Eris likes/loves Sona. It kind of felt surface level even though there was a possibility for something deep and meaningful. I kind of wished Milo wasn’t there to distract from their relationship. The drama was pointless.

Sona was the bright light in this book though. The book would have been better without Eris’s chapters because all the emotional force of the book rested solely on Sona. Eris felt like a side character in the story of a rebelling pilot. Sona was just so raw and full of emotion. Her rage and grief was painfully relatable. I was invested until her story became more about Eris than her.
