barbara’s so talented you can tell whose pov it is without having to read the character’s name in the start of each entry; they’re all so unique in writing i love it

the hardest part about reading fantasy is that you need to wait 6 more chapters going through everyone else’s POV until you reach your favorite character’s

i’m not gonna lie, i wasnt expecting it to drag on and on with the politics at Forum, i want to see more battles come onnnnnnn

!!!!! i had to physically put a hard stop here for now, at this HUGE plot twist, like a mad person, otherwise i wont be able to stop reading until i finish this and I DONT WANT IT TO END

Such a compelling first chapter!!! I LOVE the magic system in this book, it’s soo unique and makes total sense to me. I’ve never read anything like it. I’m already about 24% in and I’m SAD because this needs to be at least 600 pages! I don’t want this book to end 😭

they’re 200 km in and the characters have already started going mad

“Walk or die is the moral of this story.” They’re 152 km in already and it’s still at 31%. Just cringing at the fact that they still have a long long way to go

Off to a great start already. Read: from the son of the richest Houses in the galaxy to a homeless beggar off planet with 30% heavier than homeplanet’s gravity, equipped with nothing but his utterly useless House ring. i love it.

i love the world in this book, it’s like attack on titan meets sherlock holmes, the apocalyptic tension is so gooooood

i know this is fitz’s story but i’m ever so slowly falling in love with burrich. dark and brooding, but secretly cares, gentle and firm, treats women graciously, keeps himself neat and tidy, loves and takes care of animals, basically a healer, a soldier, a king’s Man and a stablemaster - what more could you possibly ask

i am deeply surprised by the unfolding of the events in the book, as it 1000% reads like an apocalypse and sounds like a Stephen King novel but without the zombies and the dying diseases. In fact reading this in 2025 (when this is happening) this feels like it could be something that’s happening at this moment, beyond the doors of what we think is safe. A bit unsettling but I will see this through

ngl i cried at the reveal of shallan’s past, and then next chapter over, gasped dramatically at maya’s reaction. storms, i’m in the last couple hundred pages of this book, im scared of whats gonna happen!!!!

oh wow things are decidedly NOT going better, for everyone - especially kaladin. brandysandy, i’d like to see our favorite bridgeboy happy and not suffering for at least a few chapters please, PLEASE

it’s so depressing to read through Kal’s “demotion” from a highmarshal/general of more than a dozen soldiers to a barely functioning surgeon, who trembles even when holding a knife for violence.

a sentence in chapter 41 that breaks my heart even more:

the creature loomed over him and Kaladin kept his eyes down. you learned to do that, when you were a slave.

oh lord i dont know if i can stand the suspense anymore. i have a bad feeling that gaunt might win. the whole town except sherriff pangborn is in on it 😭
