I’m enjoying this medieval HR. For an HR novel from the ’80s, it’s refreshing to read a heroine who isn’t the usual shrewish, ill-tempered, or stupid heroine. She’s strong-willed yet level-headed, and isn’t ruled by her emotions. The hero, too, isn’t needlessly cruel or abusive just for the sake of it, as was common in ’70s and ’80s HR. Best of all, the characterization is remarkably consistent.

I’m loving this book so far.

This is not a bad book. I’m just not in the mood right now to continue reading this. I’ll finish this some other time when I’m in the mood. Haha

Only four pages in, and there are already so many characters introduced. 😅

I’m enjoying this. The plot is engaging and the characters are charming and likeable.

At this point, the heroine just comes across as obsessed and completely lacking in self-awareness. I honestly want to smack some sense into her. I can't believe I'm still torturing myself by continuing this book. I you also get stupid like the heroine as you read this book. 😂

The heroine must be delusional. How can she confidently declare that she's better suited to the hero when he's been in love with her sister for years? She doesn't get to dictate who's the better match. That’s for the hero to decide, not her. 😭

For a heroine who's supposed to be smart, she isn't so smart after all. I just hate it when a character pines for someone who doesn't like them—especially for years. Imagine that. What's there to pine after if he's in love with your sister?
And it’s as if the man is worth pining for anyway. The brother is so much better. The better man.

I love the heroine except for her stupid pining after a man who's obviously in love with her sister.

After seeing them being intimate, she decides his kindness was just him being kind and treating her like a sister, so she finally resolves to stop pining after him. Then literally the next page, she's pining again. 😭😂 Have some self-respect, girl!

I just don't understand why the heroine’s clinging to someone whose heart seems to be elsewhere. To me, continuing to pine after a man who clearly prefers your sister doesn't come across as romantic, it comes across as a lack of self-respect. I hope the story gives the heroine some growth because, at this point, it's becoming frustrating to read.

I'm on page 132 of *For All the Right Reasons*, and I'm struggling to understand the heroine. She's still pining after a man who quite obviously has feelings for her sister. Meanwhile, his brother has openly admitted that he likes her and has been consistently kind and attentive toward her.

I'm interested to see how the author handles the heroine's journey after this. Too many older bodice rippers treat sexual assault as little more than a plot device, with the heroine showing little to no psychological trauma afterward—as if such a devastating experience would have no lasting emotional impact. I'm hoping this novel takes a more thoughtful and realistic approach to portraying the aftermath.

The villain is absolutely revolting. He's a lecherous predator, and the scene where he rapes the heroine was deeply disturbing. I've read a number of bodice rippers before, but rape is never something I can gloss over. It's horrifying and unsettling.

Despite the unsettling opening scenes, this book itself has kept me reading because the pacing is strong and the writing is engaging.
I normally dislike first-person narration, but in this case the author's voice has gradually won me over.

What makes it even harder to read is knowing that this isn't just fiction. It happens in real life. I know, through my sister's work, of young victims who have endured similar abuse, and it fills me with anger toward predators. It's heartbreaking that something so horrific is a reality for so many. Ji hope the story handles this subject w/ the gravity it deserves, coz it's a deeply disturbing way to begin the book.

I'm only a few pages into, and I'm already sickened. An old, lecherous family friend molests and kisses the heroine, who is still a minor. Reading about an adult taking advantage of a child is absolutely disgusting.

Great writing, but this is not a romance book.

I’m having a headache, as I’m reading this book. I’m already halfway through it, but there’s still no progress between the H/h. Their petty and constant bickering just makes my head ache. I don’t know why some other readers left a positive review on this one. It’s the only thing that keeps me going. But for now I’m no longer in the mood, I guess. I’ll continue some other time? Phew!

I like MB’s writing. Let’s see how Freyja’s character and story goes in this book. I hated her in “A Summer To Remember”. She was so bitter, resentful and hateful. In fact, the Bedwyns in that book didn’t appear and sound as promising protagonists.

Haven was such an ass in his first appearance in the first book (that book sucked btw) of the series that I don’t know how this one goes. If I were Sera, I couldn’t find myself reconciling with a man whom I caught in the act. But I like a reunited lovers’ theme nonetheless. So...

Jordan and Alexandra Townsende still remain my favorite McNaught H/h and couple. I love Ian Thorton but his heroine, Elizabeth, is not endearing as I would have liked. I find her somewhat a bit boring and dull. She quite lost its appeal to me halfway through the book. Still, her chemistry with Ian is palpable.

I’m all smiles with all the butteflies in my stomach right now because of Ian and Elizabeth and Jordan and Alex. They’re all so cute that I want to see more of them bonding. I love both couples. They’re only the McNaught couples whom I love. They’re definitely two of my favorite couples in the HR landia for that matter.
