I’m reading this one slowly, a chapter at a time and I’ll drop it for weeks (to months), but it is such a fantastic book if you want to really dig your head into how good programmers think about the problems they are trying to solve. A true classic for a reason.

(The more you use AI to code, the more you should read this book + Wengrow’s on algorithms.)

Eh. Gets better after the first 50 pages. Let’s see where it goes.

A great read

Played the video game, which is a prequel to this story. Now reading the book, which has been good. The two stories share facts/themes thus far. Definitely “solving a mystery in space” vibe.

Chewy but not hard to read. His focus is on the mountainous plain of Southeast Asia where for centuries various tribes have avoided (until lately) being absorbed into the nearby nation-states. In that sense, an anarchist history. The author is an agrarian policy guy, so I like that he comes to his central points from that perspective.

Just tracking the page number. I finished part 1 in 2024.

Just read the origin story of Stardew Valley. Enjoying this book by a good author and noted video games journalist.

Good read if you’re interested in extending and understanding Friere’s pedagogy of freedom. Chewy but not too obtuse for a book that’s basically a discussion of theory and philosophy
