Royko was awesome. I didn't "discover" him until high school; and this is a chance to catch up. The satire and wit is razor sharp. It's full of political, racial, religious barbs from the bygone era of the late '60's. A turbulent time in the country and in Chicago. Just finished reading a column he wrote titled, "Just Like the Old Country." Brilliant! The columns on hippies are hilarious.

Wow! Brad Meltzer certainly lives up to his reputation as a The #1 New York Times bestselling author! The Lightning Saga is much better than Identity Crisis.

Wow. This is awful. Frank Miller's Batman is crazy. Jim Lee's Vicky Vale and Black Canary are insanely objectified. How can a reader like or sympathize with heroes that have been jerkified? If DC was aping Marvel's Ultimate Universe, they went about it wrong. Even more nutty is the Bob Schreck huckster foreword. Every line I kept hearing Jack Nicholson, "Who do you trust? Hubba, Hubba, Hubba!

Fun, breezy read. This is the inspiration for such great Nick-and-Nora couples like Jonathan and Jennifer Hart (Hart to Hart); Laura Holt and Remington Steele; The Scarecrow and Mrs. King; and Maddie and Dave on Moonlighting.

There are only two motivators: Love and Fear.

I started following the 9th (Eccleston) Doctor. This gives an opportunity to catch up on what's come before.

I've re-read this a bunch of times. When I'm looking for inspiration and encouragement, I pick this up and flip through it.
