I'm enjoying this overall (as I did the previous book) but I wish she had an editor do a second pass. There are a lot of errors in action - for example, the FMC was given "her mother’s tattered journal, the golden harp, the little cornsilk doll..." and then not even two paragraphs later she laments the loss of her mother's comb: "It was all she had left of her mother...".

Well, no baby, you have her journal.

I needed a light hearted romp and this is scratching the itch, but I do find myself wishing I had just re-read the Villains & Virtues series by A.K. Caggiano instead.

Reddit has convinced me that the sequel is really, really good so I'm going to re-read Book 1 before diving into that. I may regret this?

Very much scratching the itch for me so far. Needed a total genre change after my last read and I'm enjoying the dystopia of it all.

Starting to feel desperate for one emotional win amongst all of this grief.

Obsessed with this early reveal.

Loving this so far - especially how clever our heroine is. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy Ilona Andrews.
