Why do they mock someone for adopting a philosophy of life? In part because... a person is demonstrating that he has different values than they do. They might therefore infer that he thinks their values are somehow mistaken, which is something people don't want to hear. Furthermore... he is... challenging them to do something they are probably reluctant to do: reflect on their life and how they are living it.

Finished with the novel text. A quick enjoyable read. Catherine's "anti-heroine" is a remedy to Austen's other more Cinderella-like novels.

Can a book about Biblical inerrancy be informative AND interesting? Yes, yes it can. (Though I wish Mohler would have repeated himself a bit less.)

Already I can see that much of this book and the author's interpretations of inerrancy are also going to rest on their view of hermeneutics and exegesis.

First, Burke vs Thomas Pain on Primogeniture, now this gem from Mary Wollstonecraft (1792): "the mass of mankind will never vigorously pursue an intellectual object." Her note: "The mass of mankind are rather the laves of their appetites than of their passions." So true, so true.
