The biggest obstacle we face, in performance and in life, is self-centeredness.
- The obstacle is the program our mind runs based on who we've subconsciously programmed ourselves to be.

- Love - lead with your heart. Passion.
- Wisdom - expand your vision. Purpose.
- Courage - be fully present. Poise.

The greater the struggle you've made to get something, the more you sacrificed for it, the greater your disappointment will be when you win the prize and your life hasn't fundamentally changed. Because you'll still be you, with all your neuroses and fears and regrets, only it's worse because you have the thing you wanted so badly-what will motivate you now?

Humans are exceptional mimics; it is our primary means of childhood learning and it persists through adulthood.

Finding an connecting with wealthy people will give you models of behavior for obtaining and living with wealth.

"Memento mori" - "Remember you will die" In the end you will be more upset about the risk you didn't take than the fallout from the ones you did.

Real estate prices rise with inflation, making homeownership a hedge against it. Mortgages are long-term, secured debts, but the wrong type or too much debt can cost peace, retirement, and freedom. Rule: a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage with payments ≤25% of take-home pay. Get in position: save more, increase income, adjust budget, and explore affordable areas. Average millionaires pay off homes in 10.2 years.

Credit card companies generate hundreds of billions in profit annually through various streams like interest (most profitable), consumer fees, and interchange fees. Interest alone redistributes $15 billion each year from the poorer to richer. Nearly half 49% of people can’t pay off their monthly balance. Living without a credit card possible, and it can lead to thrive.

FICO scores reflect your debt management, not income or assets. Maintaining a high score means continually using and repaying debt.
True financial success is about savings, not credit scores. While low scores can hurt, having no score isn’t harmful.

Chapter 8, "Discovering Our Different Emotional Needs," highlights the unique love needs for men and women. Men's needs are trust, acceptance, appreciation, admiration, approval, and encouragement, while women's needs are caring, understanding, respect, devotion, validation, and reassurance. Fulfilling these needs is key to deepening love. Partners can also validate each other's views, even when they disagree.

It emphasizes that men and women process information differently: women tend to think out loud and share their thought process, while men work through problems internally and silently. The book suggests that both men and women need to move away from offering the kind of care they personally prefer and instead learn to appreciate and adapt to their partner's unique ways of thinking, feeling, and reacting.

Chp 4 when women recognizes her needs, men become more attentive, realizing neglect & desiring to change. Men's deepest fear is inadequacy, it makes them hesitant to give, fearing failure. Success helps men feel competent, builds self-esteem & wisdom. Men must know it's okay to make mistakes.

Chp 5 men are cautioned not to take women’s words literally, as women often express emotions not exact facts.

Chp 4. explains men (Martians) are motivated by feeling needed, while women (Venetians) are empowered by feeling cherished. Men thrive when proving their worth but regress if they feel they can't succeed. Fulfillment for men comes from giving and making their partner happy. Men withdraw when upset, contrasting with women's need for emotional closeness. Men are motivated by being needed but turned off by desperation.

You can't choose your feelings, but you can choose your reaction to your feelings
