Karen is starting My Brother Sam Is Dead
Not my favorite revolutionary story. A lot of swearing and the main character is an adolescent and frankly annoying. It also is fairly graphic with violent content so pre-read for the under 12 crowd. It does do a good job of showing the bleak and very much not glorious side of war. I won’t buy for my personal library or have my kids read it.

Excellent resource that every Christian parent should read and implement in their homes.

Karen is starting The Vanderbeekers Ever After (The Vanderbeekers, #7)
Last book in the series. My kids loved it like all the others. Prepare to cry a lot throughout the book as it deals with childhood cancer.

*spoiler*

It does end happily for the Vanderbeekers for those that need to know before reading.

Karen is starting The Lost World of Genesis One: Ancient Cosmology and the Origins Debate
Lots to chew on. I don’t think I agree with all of his points but well written and thought provoking.

Karen is starting The Innocence of Father Brown (Father Brown, #1)
I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I didn’t realize that it was a collection of short stories rather than one long story line. His (father brown) dry humor did make me laugh at times though.

Karen is starting The House on Mango Street
Not my favorite book of the year but real and raw. Would recommend for high school students and adults only.
