I didn't expect to like this novel as much as I did. It was a book club selection, and I don't typically read thrillers, especially ones with a supernatural angle. I got caught up in Audrey Lake's complicated life, and the two cases that placed her right in the path of danger. This is the third book in the series, but I had no trouble catching up with the story. A fun, exciting read.

The book I've been looking for. A Field Guide to Murder was such a fun read! Yes, there was murder and mayhem, but with a cozy mystery touch - not too heavy or dark. I enjoyed every twist and turn, but best of all, the characters. Harry and Emma were perfect amateur sleuths. A traditional mystery with a Mrs. Pollifax vibe. I'm looking forward to the next book by this author.

I attended Stant's class on pacing at a writers' conference. He is an impressive, energetic speaker. I wanted to spend more time on this topic, so I bought the book. It is laser-focused on pacing, using examples from literature and offering exercises to apply to your own writing. Having read it, I plan to go through Write Pacing again, slower, working on the exercises. I found this book well worth the time.
