Once I found my footing in the unfamiliar culture, I couldn't put down the book. There are dual timelines that meet at the end. The 1916 storyline meshes with the 1921 in a satisfying conclusion. Perveen seemed spoiled, and definitely headstrong. But those characteristics are what carried her through tough challenges. She won't put up with any disrespect just because she's a young woman operating in a man's world.
