since i know how slowly i read histories, i’ve decided to read this one concurrently with fiction/romance. we’re currently bouncing around through a few centuries because sources aren’t reliable so it’s going to take some time

nearly done, i just wanted to comment: i think this author hates women. at least, certain types of women. very unsympathetic to her “lead”

well. these people need to get a divorce but in my anxiety i skimmed ahead and learned that they will. this relationship is about power imbalances, because of their age, financial, and mental health gaps. i hate both of them but obviously i have frank more since he has the background misogyny of a boomer. sigh. halfway there!

ms jane is really taking her time… we have 50 pages left and still nothing! we know he cares but not a lick or romance. sigh

my stopping point before the sunday call. nothing really happening but i suppose nothing needs to happen, jane just needs to stick the landing

i have completed the first volume. not a lot of wooing, lots of melancholy. but obviously a quick read, the language doesn’t feel as burdensome this time around

there is a marked difference between p&p and this one. i can sense her maturity with this work (more fleshed out family characters and more biting)

i have reached the final section. i don’t know what this book is about (in entirety) but it has good quotes. 4 stars

i started the day on page 86 (haven’t been tracking over the past week) and now i’m on 223. i was just trying to make it halfway (157) which seemed impossible. now i have less than 100 pages left. reading is weird. willpower in weird.

just started. the prose is simple so it is quick read but i might get bogged down by the philosophy. its making my brain hurt

read a VERY graphic sex scene (the word cock was used) on the bus this morning so i’m definitely awake. never thought that would happen lol but now i know i have no shame 🤗

never got the chance to properly celebrate halfway (210 pages!) cause goodreads is counting the 20 pages of sample chapter for another work. and now i’m 100 pages past that! 98 pages until im done with the book! it will get finished and i read so much today!

i’m not done reading in this session but something is really bothering me. first there was a statement about the characters meetings (about how they hadn’t seen e/o in days) that was wrong and now there’s a not common saying being used by two different pov characters. has she lost her plot?! lol

i will finish this book, i don’t care how much of a struggle it is. the plot is picking up but it’s been moving very slowly and i kinda just want these two people to kiss already. don’t they read the same pages i do?! lol. also i hate men too much cause this male pov is killing me😭

didn’t hit my goal of getting halfway but reading 100 pages in a day is good enough i guess

the plot’s finally getting started so yay. i might be able to finish before this is due (ugh) but good luck to my other books🙃

not much progress, i just wanted to make a note of a thought that i had. in the first chapter, at the cafe, there was mention of a local celebrity and we just discovered that lucie’s friend owns the cafe. so i think the local celebrity is gonna be a love interest. our foil.

i’m not sure this book has an understanding of virality or social media and it’s making me mad. whatever. so glad i didn’t buy it

at the first paragraph break. the book is sad but mostly too dense to make me cry. very reflective. trying to see if there’s a narrative purpose to the metaphors or if it’s because he’s poetic

henry is about to die and i have exactly 20 pages left. this book is still a psa but it’s a good message so im not annoyed. couldn’t finish because i have work and the book is too bulky to bring. hopefully will finish tonight

addie knows and she’s about to meet with luc to save henry. i’ve not skimmed ahead so we’ll see how this goes. don’t know if this is a four or five star, i think the rating will live and die by the ending which doesn’t happen often. you have less than 60 pages Vicky!

just finished part v. have skimmed ahead and i know his time limit will be revealed in 20 pages or so (it’s not cheating if i already deduced it!). will stop skimming after that though cause ill have like 60 pages left and what’s the point then

just finished part iv and henry’s story. he too feels like he doesn’t exist and addie sees him, just like he saw her. when is luc coming back? and when are we getting that new orleans backstory!! i still have about 145 pages left so we’ll see🎶

not sure how much i’ll read tonight, didn’t even realize that i’d just read so much in one burst. henry is sharing his story and i’m intrigued while also trying to get through it cause it’s kinda meh. also i think he’s dying in 6 months so this will be a mess!
