Ok. I got baited into this book. But the writing style is getting on my nerves. Like those animes that drag out a single frame by narrating the inner monoloque of a person this book keeps dragging out the most mundane conversations by describing the characters thoughts and feeling and perceptions in between every single sentence. That would be nice if there was any revelation to us. But it's just repetition.

Okay. So. I still think this book is kinda weird. And I am still confused about what the hell is actually going on. BUT it is fascinating and combines a lot of ideas and themes I developed a passion for in recent years, like astrodynamics, chaotic systems, computer simulations & VR, nanotechnology, the history of science, and so on and so on. :D If the ending is solid, I'll go back and reread it.

They say "character is king". I believe this is true for most stories. But this book is not about the people in it. And I struggle with finding the plot and mystery engaging enough to really care about it.

There is some wonderful writing though. I do enjoy the style. And yes, the mystery is thought-provoking. But I am also left confused a lot. - I wonder how this book will end.

I like this one. Not a rounded story. Not efficient. Not all too deep. But a very rewarding world building and progression. Slow but elaborate with highly entertaining character interactions. My kind of casual magical escapism. Let's see how it continues :D

I really want to like this but Brandon Sanderson is really dragging this story out in a way that keeps losing me. Probably because I am more of a casual reader. There are only a few series where I like to sit down and take my time to fully immerse myself for a couple of days. This isn't it.

This makes me a bit sad because I admire Sanderson immensely, as a person, writer, and teacher.

It is getting... very tiring. And I find myself having lost track of some of the characters and story lines wondering where this is all going and why.

Once again a very promising sci-story about nanotechnology. But I have been burned before. The premise is usually great. I can't wait to see how Peterson continues to build on it in the last two-thirds of the book.

Mmmh. GREAT start. Really. Phenomenal! But after the first 20%, I don't feel like much is really happening. 😕

My god, this book is LONG. Sanderson is a madman. Not sure if I like his writing style. And the story feels slow and boring compared to other things I have been reading. But I love the magic system and world-building. Just get going with the heist, will ya?
