I can't read this book at night anymore lol

It took a while for the events to pick up tbh but now it's starting aaaaahhh

Dropped this book in high school so it's my second time trying to read it. Book started slow but it's gradually unfolding more interesting events.

I don't usually write reviews here but this book is so good! Admittedly, I haven't read a lot of local books and I'm glad I found this one in my sister's high school library. I love how the mystery builds up and tackles serious issues such as prejudice and poverty. Can't wait to finish it 😍

It's been a while since I've read a book by a local author. Gripping read so far

A weary carriage driver shares his woes about how he earns very little because he has to pay the horse and carriage owner everyday. Because of the high rates, he ends up overworking himself and the horses, and dies shortly after.

This book was written in the 1800's. It's eye-opening yet discouraging to see how little society has changed over time.
