Just got to the I’m coming to the cottage scene so I’ll take a break until the next episode. But it’s funny that there’s 25% of the book left to go so 4 episodes (the 3rd one doesn’t count bc it’s book 1) depicted 75% of the book and they’ll have to fit all the rest in one ?????

I’m literally at the part halfway through episode 4 where Shane’s at Ilya’s place and now I’m wondering if I should just reach the content by the end of episode 4 and then wait to watch episode 5 before I keep going so the show is my first point of contact to the storyline

I understand this book was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and people love it and that it’s literary fiction, but I don’t get it. Literally nothing happens of interest. There are some good quotes, yes, but the main character is just a boring upper middle class girl going to Harvard in the 90s. I do not understand the hype. Am I dumb?

Every single second I spend on this book makes me realize that I truly hate myself. But now I’m past the midway mark and so I feel like I have to finish this completely obnoxious book with the most unlikable characters and unconvincing interactions that I’ve ever read in a romance novel and the bar is VERY LOW

This book is so so so beautifully written it makes me mad how much I’m not that into historical fiction. The book is still so objectively good though it’ll still be one of my highest rated of the year.

One of my biggest personality flaws is how much I love Salinger’s Glass family. I’m indifferent to the catcher but give me any story with a Glass family kid and it’s always the best think I’ve ever read.

Unless something monumentally amazing happens in the last 5 chapters this book will be one of the biggest disappointments of my year
