Melinda is 50% done with European Travel for the Monstrous Gentlewoman (The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club, #2)
Not sure when I’ll finish this. I’m not enjoying near as much as the first one. The pacing is too slow, and the young Miss Van Helsing is utterly unbearable.

Melinda is finished with Half-Resurrection Blues (Bone Street Rumba #1)
The author's reading of this really brought it to life, it was rhythmic and poetic urban fantasy.

Melinda is finished with Rogues
Of course I skipped ahead to the Rothfuss. Fantastic story. I also enjoyed the Neil Gaiman story, and loved Scott Lynch's female band of retired thrives in a city ruled by warring wizards. He makes creating rich, complex and compelling worlds seem easy.

Melinda is starting Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography
Love the choose your own adventure format, but I'm not sue if I've finished the story because of all the skipping around. NPH is lovable and humorous and open, quite an enjoyable read I'd recommend.

I am enjoying this tome of short stories. Loved the Joe Abercrombie, and the Gillian Flynn, both excellent examples of perfectly formed and engrossing stories. Did not enjoy at all the Joe R Lansdale - tuff guys rescue helpless girl cliche with no great story or character development. Trying to read in order and not skip ahead to Rothfuss and Gaiman.

The problem with this book is that I can put it down. And since I usually have several books going, this one ends up on the back burner. It's a good story, but it doesn't transport me. I'm always aware I'm reading a book rather than being lost in the story.

I finished book one last night. I like the characters, and many aspects of the story. However I am hoping the story gets more flushed out as it continues. Book one was mostly just a series of battle scenes, and at times it felt a bit monotonous.

My sister and bro-in-law passed this on to me.
It's a heroine's journey. Hurray for strong women!

I'm off to a slow start on this one. I've reread many passages. The problem is I'm not familiar with any of this history, which is why I want to read this. I'm just not sure it's a good introduction. She jumps around a lot. I would prefer to stay in one place and absorb.
